Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

My name is Andrew McVey and I have been at the clinic since I graduated in 2012, coming to work for my Dad, Bryan. I took over as Branch Partner in 2014 and have loved my 10+ years leading the clinic! I love all aspects of general practice; in particular building lasting relationships with our clients, many of whom I now consider to be friends. I am also passionate about training and mentoring the next generation of vets; many of whom you will have met at the clinic! Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my two children, as well as watching Liverpool FC and an occasional round of golf. I am incredibly proud of our team and look forward to welcoming you to the clinic!

I joined the team at Orrell Park after graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2020. I have a keen interest in surgery, dermatology and pain management but overall, I love seeing all of our lovely clients and their furry (or feathered) friends! When I'm not working, I enjoy baking, crochet, drinking cocktails and walking my dog Bella. I also recently adopted a cat called Gertie. I am Branch Partner at our Anfield clinic but still spend half my week at Orrell Park.

I am a registered veterinary nurse who has been in veterinary practice since 1999, qualifying as a nurse in 2003. I have had animals all my life including rabbits, cats and dogs. I have a particular interest in cats and enjoy having them as pets. I decided to start breeding pedigree Siberian cats in 2008 and currently live with 10 Siberians. Due to my specific interest in felines I decided to study for the ISFM Diploma in feline nursing in October 2013. I passed with a merit in February 2016. I helped achieve the practice’s cat friendly status and helped acquire our silver award. I am one of the cat advocates at the practice. I have specific interests in senior nursing, nurse clinics, reproduction, nutrition, weight management clinics and neonatology.

I have worked for Medivet since 2016 and moved here from the Billinge branch in December 2020, after graduating as an RVN. Before working at the vets I did a zoology degree at uni. I have an interest in Behaviour and I am currently doing a course in Animal Behaviour. I have two dogs, a Cockerpoo called Willow and a Border Collie called Shadow. In my spare time I like to go for walks with the dogs and go to concerts.

I have worked for Medivet for over 2 years as a PCA but I am very excited to start my training and to become a veterinary nurse. I have 3 guinea pigs called Timon, Albert & Norman who never fail to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. Small furries have always been a big part of my life and are an area of interest for me. In my spare time I like to dance, sometimes even with fire!

I’ve been a part of the Medivet team since August 2021. My goal is to eventually become a qualified Veterinary Nurse, so being able to help the vets and nurses with taking care of the animals really helps me in my journey to my chosen career. I’ve always loved animals and to be able to make a difference means a lot to me. My special interest is cats. I have a Ragamuffin cat called Emmeline who I adopted from the cat café and she's my world!

I feel destined to provide care and advocate for our beloved individuals who cannot express themselves. I find fulfillment in collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and gaining insights from them. The guiding principle I adhere to in life is, "IT DOES NOT HURT TO BE KIND."

I've been at the practice since the end of 2009 after graduating from Liverpool John Moores University. I started off as a kennel assistant for two and a half years, got my animal nursing certificate then went onto the reception. I have a gorgeous Maltese dog called Coco and a goldfish called Jaws, that lives in our pond. I enjoy spending time with my children and husband, my family, friends and little dog outside of work.

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr Jeremy Carr for the years of care, kindness, and expertise he gave to my beloved Chloe. Although Chloe has now sadly passed away, I will always remember that it was Dr Carr who saved her life when she first became seriously ill and gave us precious extra years together years filled with love, joy, and memories I will treasure forever. Throughout all the years of Chloe’s treatment, Dr Carr showed not only outstanding professional skill but also genuine compassion, patience, and understanding. Chloe was treated as if she were one of their own, and I always felt reassured knowing she was in such capable and caring hands. Even in the most difficult moments towards the end, Dr Carr and the team continued to show incredible kindness and support both to Chloe and to me. For that, I am truly grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for Chloe and for the comfort you gave me. You gave us more time together, and that is the greatest gift anyone could give.

I am so impressed with Churchcroft Veterinary Centre - our cat, Panda, had suffered nasty injuries after being hit by a car and was looked after extremely well. Amongst other injuries, his jaw was smashed, but George was able to wire it together, and after a few gruelling weeks of tube-feeding poor Panda we found it had mended well enough for him to eat normally. Throughout it all, George was wonderful - very kind to both us and Panda, and we realised that he has an amazing way with animals. Even after all he went through, Panda is always relaxed and happy to see George on his visits to the Vets, all the staff are always friendly and helpful. Yes, they are a bit more expensive, and as there are now more investigations/treatments on offer, it can ramp up the bills, but their expertise is excellent, and we are just careful not to overspend.
