My boy was rushed in, blood going everywhere after a run in with a strimmer blade, instantly I was put at ease by the staff and reassured…. He was looked after with so much love and care, the staff on that night went above and beyond for my boy, then in the following weeks of recovery, were always on the phone for advice and ideas when I needed them. Was advised about laser treatment that’s available to help with healing, was advised could/would speed up recovery time, they weren’t wrong, after a course of treatment Loki is now back being himself without a care in the world, if you happen to have laser as an option i highly recommend it after seeing what it’s done.I honestly can’t thank the staff enough for all there love, support and efforts given to my boy I would strongly recommend Basingstoke Medivet to everyone

I had such an awful experience here that I left in tears and immediately closed my account. I took my large, gentle dog in for treatment for a cut paw, and from the moment I walked in, the vet was cold and rude. She didn’t even greet me or my dog properly—just created this really tense, uncomfortable atmosphere straight away. Before even trying to get my dog’s trust, she went straight for his injured paw and grabbed it roughly, making him yelp in pain. He hadn’t made a sound the entire time we were cleaning and treating it at home, so this was the first time he really showed pain—and it was entirely because of how she handled him. As soon as he flinched, she jumped back and immediately said she needed help to "pin him down," which felt totally over the top. Thankfully, the assistant who came in was much kinder and treated him like a living being rather than a threat. The vet barely spoke to me during the whole appointment. I asked questions while she sat silently typing for ages, and my poor dog was just lying there with his wound exposed to the floor. I asked if she was going to clean it before redressing it—she completely ignored me until her assistant nudged her to reply. The way she handled him during treatment was honestly traumatic. I was holding his head and trying to keep him calm while he flinched and jumped around in pain. She didn’t once pause or try to make it easier for him. There was zero care or compassion shown. I still don’t know if we’re any better off for even going. The only time she really tried to engage with me was to push an expensive laser treatment that apparently would speed up healing by 30% and cost hundreds of pounds. After I declined, she became even colder. To make it worse, once I got home I realised she’d told me the wrong dose for the meds. She didn’t ask any questions about his overall health (vomiting, allergies, etc.) or even basic details about the injury—like how it happened or what I’d already done to care for it. I’ve now gone back to my old vet, even though they’re a 30-minute drive away, just to make sure we never go through anything like that again. If you have a large breed or a sensitive dog, I’d seriously avoid this place. It felt like the vet had no experience or comfort handling big dogs at all—and we both paid the price for it. Really hoping others will see this and think twice, a truly horrible experience
